Facets of Life.

22/06/06 - A Day To Remember.

Indeed it is! Today is my ORD date, and I have collected my pink I/C to officiate my transition into civilian life. The feeling of it is GOD DAMNED SHIOK AH!!! I woke up at 8 today, then dillydallied and left my house at 9.15, and reached Mandai Hill Camp at 10.15. I got Daniel to meet me at the gate so I wouldn't have to book in, to which he readily agreed. THANKS BRO!!!

We went up to OTS first so I could put down my stuff, then I had a short chat with everyone there for the last time. Jeremy wanted me to help ask whether he could collect his I/C today, and fortunately for him, the answer was yes. So I called him up and informed him, then waited till he arrived so we could collect our I/Cs together.

After we went to get our much anticipated little pink cards, we went for brunch at the canteen, where I got myself the 3 famous samosas and a cup of coffee from the drinks/snacks stall. After a bit of idle chatting, Daniel had something to do so he went up first, and Jeremy and I followed shortly after we'd finished our drinks and my samosas.

I was supposed to meet Sandra in the afternoon at Lot 1 for lunch, and during my brunch, she asked me whether she could bring a friend along. I was a little unwilling to at first, but decided it wouldn't do me any harm to get to know more friends so I agreed. I went up to OTS to slack around and MSN for a while, and at the same time look after the office because everyone had to go for an early lunch to get ready for a meeting later.

I left Mandai Hill Camp at around 1230, then went on to the bus stop while calling Sandra to tell her I'd reach Lot 1 in around an hour. The bus came earlier than expected, and the trip took less than expected too, which resulted in me reaching at 1250. I took a walk around Lot 1 to pass time, but there wasn't much to look at, so I ended up going back to the MRT station to wait after 15 minutes.

Sandra came shortly after, followed by her friend. Fortunately she was the chatty and friendly type. We had our lunch at the food court in the basement, and chatting away merrily. I re-enacted the story of last night's Incredible Tales to her, as well as an old Tekong "ghost story" that was pretty well known to every NSF, to which she listened enthusiastically.

I was feeling tired after lunch, so I decided to head on home to rest. Sandra and her friend were going to Bugis, so we went to the MRT station together, where we parted ways shortly after when the trains came. I had a cool refreshing shower after I got home, and decided to have a "photoshoot" of me with my pink I/C. =D

Random Pictures, and then some.

Since nothing much has happened to me these 2 days, I have decided to post some pictures that I took recently. Enjoy!

Taken a few nights ago, in the evening. Lovely isn't it?

My two Konjiki No Gash Bell plush toys. Also what I gave Sandra for her birthday. A must have for any Konjiki No Gash Bell fans!

A huge spider hanging from the overhead bridge outside the Singapore Institute of Management. Saw it when I went to register for my course. Scary.

Two bus-stop advertisements that caught my eye. The first one was hilarious, and the second one really gets people thinking, doesn't it?

The Seafood Pasta and Tonkatsu Curry Rice that Sandra and I had at Ma-Maison, Bugis Junction. Not a bad choice of food. Reasonably priced as well.

$3000 worth of $50 notes, baby! Courtesy of the NSmen who went to NSOTS to get charged for defaulting IPPT. There were 30 of them, and each had to pay $100. Now we know where SAF gets all its resources from. (:

That's it for inanimate objects. Now, on to human beings.

Daniel(le). My handsome but self-deluded AS1. Thinks he's Superman all the time. HAHA! Also my talk cock and DOTA buddy.

Mr. Foo, AKA Tennis Freak. A hardcore tennis player, and Daniel's upperstudy - Who is now a civilian. Haha! Also a pool GOD as you can see from the second pic. (:

Well, that's all for today. Stay tuned for more updates!

Now, this is going to be a looong post. As usual, I woke up to a hot day, sweating my brains out. I asked Jefri out to the PC show this morning, and he agreed. So we met at City Hall MRT station at 1.30 pm, then we went on ahead to Funan to get my new CPU at the shop Danny introduced to me. It's his uncle's friend shop, according to him.

So I went in to the shop, which, fortunately, was almost devoid of customers. Save for another guy and us. When the boss finished his business with the other customer, I approached him and told him that I wanted to get a CPU and asked him for recommendations. So he gave me an Intel P4 3.0gHz D processor, motherboard, 1GB DDRII Memory, a Pioneer 16x DVD+RW, an NVIDIA GeForce 6600 LE Graphics Card, and a casing. All for $1280. A pretty good price, I should say.

I also bought an USB 2.0 Bluetooth dongle for $25, and a 80GB external harddisk for $125. And after that we headed down to the PC show at Suntec City Convention Hall, where I bought myself a Microsoft keyboard for $27.90. I'm using it now, and it's quite comfy. It practically makes no sound as I type. So that brings my total amount spent to $1458 today. I'm surprised I actually spent within my budget! $2 extra, no less.

Sidetracking a little, I really wonder how the appearance of the ugly Singaporean came about. What is it that makes these people do the things that they do? Things like spitting in public, fighting to cross the road first at a pedestrian crossing and blocking the way but end up getting overtaken by everybody, squeezing and pushing while trying to get on the escalator at MRT stations and shopping malls, fighting with one another to see who gets on/off the MRT or bus first, et cetera et cetera.

So what is it with these people? Would they die if they spat in a piece of tissue paper? Would they die if they crossed the roads a second later? Would they die if they waited for 30 seconds to get on the escalator? Or is there a $1 million cash prize if they got on or off the bus or MRT first? I should think not. But these pea-brained losers seem to have the mindset that they would.

For example, today, while on our way to Suntec City from Citylink Mall, Jefri and I got stuck outside at the overhead bridge from Citylink to Suntec. Why? Because of some morons who think that their grandfather owns the place, and they could walk or climb up the then-stopped escalator at snail's pace, hence holding up everyone behind them. It took 5 minutes for us just to get from Citylink's exit to the base of the escalator.

Once inside, we made our way to the convention halls, and boy was it crowded. Everyone was pushing everyone else, trying to go first. By the time we reached the exhibition halls, I was perspiring like crazy. It was ten times worse once we entered the halls. There was practically no space to walk, and we had to shove our way through just to get a move on.

So after our ordeal, we had to shove our way back to the exit again, then made our way to the MRT station where we went home. On my way back, I saw this group of foreigners, who thought that their grandfather owned the train. They were making such a din, and there were 2 guys among them who blocked the doors. One of them was sitting down on the floor, and the other was sitting ON his luggage. Losers.

So I made my way home, and the weather now is very cooling and windy, and looks like it might rain any time. The timing couldn't be greater! So now all that's left for me to do, is wait till Wednesday, where Mr. Eric will be delivering my CPU. And once that's done, I can start gaming with Team Strife! Alright, that should do it for now. Stay tuned for more updates!

The weather's been horrible recently. One minute it's as sunny as a desert, and the next minute it's pouring like nobody's business. Thanks to the weather lots of people have been taken ill.

Was supposed to go to the PC show with Szejie and Darran, but something happened and I couldn't make it. Sorry guys! Planned to go to Funan later in the evening with Danny to get me a new CPU, but wasn't well enough to.

It's been sunny as hell the whole of today, and I'm perspiring even as I'm sitting down in front of the darned fan at full blast. Take care everyone, and remember to drink more water!

Ahoy there mateys! Finally my new blog skin is done up! Time to start blogging again! Ok, now for the important stuff. Time to backtrack to a few days ago.

Tuesday, 30 May 2006.

Spent an enjoyable day with Sandra today. It's her birthday this Friday, and I asked her out to give her an advance birthday treat. I met her at Dover MRT, and she drove us to Bugis. Halfway through we were lost, but after some turning around here and there we managed to get to our destination.

We reached Bugis at around 4.10pm, then went straight to buy our tickets for Over The Hedge. After that we did some window shopping and went to check out our dining place for later in the evening – a Japanese-French fusion restaurant, Ma Maison .

The show itself was not too shabby - quite funny, but still paled in comparison with Ice Age 2. During the show there were uncivilized kids running about and crying and screaming, and inconsiderate morons chatting with each other, and on the phone. What a bummer.

The show ended at 5.55pm, and we headed to Ma Maison for our dinner. It wasn’t open yet when we got there, so we waited for around 5 minutes until it was open for business. After going in, and taking in the nice ambience, we ordered our food after a while of pondering. Sandra ordered seafood pasta, while I ordered pork chop rice with curry. Yum! Sandra’s serving was kinda small, and mine was kinda big. I managed to finish my food without much trouble though. And thanks to my flu and meds, my appetite wasn't as good as it usually was.

We sat around and chatted a bit after our dinner, to catch up on old times. It’s surprising how fast time flies, and that we’ve known each other for 6 years already. We left at around 7.15pm, and I walked her to the carpark, then went on ahead to take the MRT back home. Well, she told me she liked my presents very much, and hearing that just makes my day.

Thursday, 01 June 2006

I woke up at about ten, then cooked some noodles for breakfast and had my meds. I was supposed to go to SIM later, to make my payment for the first semester then meet Ah Pong for a game of pool at Clementi. School starts on 3 July! I can hardly wait! I washed up at about 12, then left at 1245. I reached SIM at 1.30, and by the time I finished with the procedures, it was almost 2pm. I called Ah Pong up to let him know that he could head to Clementi to meet me.

By the time Ah Pong arrived, it was pouring. Since the pool centre was pretty damn far away, we decided to catch X-Men 3 instead. We went to the old, beat-up Empress Cinema, and bought ourselves the tickets for $6 apiece. Cheap huh? The show was okay, nothing spectacular. After the movie we had our dinner at KFC, and then parted ways to go home.

Friday, 02 June 2006

I woke up at 8, then got ready for gym session with Ronnie at Orchid Park Condo. We met at 9, and sweated it out till 10. Ron had to go out with his dad, so he left while I was in the changing room. Ha! I spent the rest of my day playing Atelier Iris 2 and watching TV. Well, that's all for today now.

And lastly, Happy Birthday Sandra!
